I know marine environments are very bad for concrete structures (if not specifically designed to prevent chloride ion ingress), but not sure with regard to lacustrine environments. Still, I'm thinking wind driven water droplets could be a degradation factor for thin sections of concrete with low reinforcement cover. Easy to repair with the right materials.

I remember being on the roof of the East tower in 1967, the amazing view of the Wrigley building, the Equitable, and the lake. Today it is all blocked by the ugly IBM building and the Trump tower.
