Cities across the world are increasingly focused on eliminating crash-related injuries and fatalities. Data can be a powerful resource in these efforts to make streets safer. Microsoft partnered with DataKind, which recently completed the Vision Zero Labs Project. More protected bike lanes, more and wider sidewalks, safer crosswalks, less and narrower car lanes, traffic calming (speed bumps, speed cameras), more transit, more light rail, and finally: less cars... That's how you are going to get safer streets.
