To clear up any confusion (although I never said this): You have to unlock missions through checkrides and reputation. Free flight exists as it did before (and I talk about it in this video) and requires no unlocking or checkrides. You can fly any plane on day one, you just can't do missions without going through the various prerequisites.

Can you imagine if Microsoft had shot down the idea of restarting the flight sim. We would've never known just how awesome it could get. This sim is flat ass unbelievable compared to what was available before 2020.

A true flight simulator would include furloughs, lousy crash pads, missed commute flights etc lol. Seriously I'm looking forward to the new edition.

actually kudos to the devs for making the career more involved then a list of disconnected missions
Also within a day there will be a mod that will give you those options

i'm excited to go through the training and checkrides, but i agree they should be optional. also agree losing progress because of a not-in-game interruption is frustrating.

I learned to fly as a kid from the original Microsoft Flight simulator. It was educational enough that the first time I got into a Cessena 310 with my boss i was able to properly do the VOR navigation, before widespread GPS usage etc. I'm stoked for this to help the next generation of kids learn to fly too.

Im with you on the Cessna checkrides. After flying ag and being a real CFII, it's like buying a NASCAR game and having to take a drivers liscense test in grandmas Buick.

Mover, this is probably the best review of a flight simulator product I have ever watched/listened to. I don’t agree with all your viewpoints but I do agree with the way you presented them. After 4+ years of hearing content reviewers pile adjective upon adjective to say they recommend a product or a feature of a product, this is a refreshing turn around and I hope it inspires some reviewers to modify their style somewhat. Thanks a million.

I saw about 5 videos with the MSFS2024 content today and you are THE FIRST AND ONLY GUY who pointed out some things which are bad. Others are on some kind of weird hype train I cant say a bad thing about the MSFS24 .. so without further ado.. Thank you. btw the a-10 footage showing physics and aircraft behavior was really horrifying.

100% agree with your views on the lessons and check rides. Been flying enough I don’t want to waist my time on lessons or check rides. Should be up to each user’s preference.

I was considering pre order but this videos changed my mind. Looking forward to it but I only have slots of time in between the family and work to be able to play. I don’t want to have to spend hours building up my career path. I’ll carry on watching to see what you think when it comes out proper. Thanks from the UK!!

I 100% understand why pilots wouldn't want to do the base level check rides.
For me many who want the experience without the money I think the check rides and lessons are going to be great.
I think k the solution is a check box; Do you want to skip training "yes" "no". If they already have a developer button for it, it's just a matter of renaming in the code and jobs a gooden.

Also tha is for the review, I was not going to get this until I saw the firefighting and SAR content
