It Happened!

On September 18, 1939, the Polish government, led by President Ignacy Mościcki, fled to Romania. This move was a response to the joint invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, which had begun earlier in the month. Fleeing to Romania was an attempt to escape the advancing enemy forces and to seek refuge and support from other Allied nations during the early stages of World War II.
