Michio Kaku: String Theory Is The GOD Equation! (142)

Dr. Michio Kaku — theoretical physicist, bestselling author, acclaimed public speaker, renowned futurist, and popularizer of science. As co-founder of String Field Theory, Dr. Kaku carries on Einstein’s quest to unite the four fundamental forces of nature into a single grand unified theory of everything.

Kaku has starred in a myriad of science programming for television including Discovery, Science Channel, BBC, ABC, and History Channel. Beyond his numerous bestselling books, he has also been a featured columnist for top popular science publications such as Popular Mechanics, Discover, COSMOS, WIRED, New Scientist, Newsweek, and many others. Dr. Kaku was also one of the subjects of the award-winning documentary, ME & ISAAC NEWTON by Michael Apted.

His new book THE GOD EQUATION is about the quest to unify the rules governing the heavens and the Earth, and the ultimate challenge: achieving a monumental synthesis of the two remaining theories—relativity and the quantum theory. This would be the crowning achievement of science, a profound merging of all the forces of nature into one beautiful, magnificent equation to unlock the deepest mysteries in science: What happened before the Big Bang? What lies on the other side of a black hole? Are there other universes and dimensions? Is time travel possible? Why are we here? Kaku also explains the intense controversy swirling around this theory, with Nobel laureates taking opposite sides on this vital question. It is a captivating, gripping story; what’s at stake is nothing less than our conception of the universe. Written with Kaku’s trademark enthusiasm and clarity, this epic and engaging journey is the story of The God Equation.

Hi Brian, I have a small request. Michio Kaku tends to repeat the same rehearsed lines when he's doing the rounds. Can you probe and ask follow ups so we can get past the same answers he gives everyone? You're great at interviews and Michio Kaku is a wonderful speaker. My only beef is I wish he'd be less scripted.

Great talk, great guest. Thanks Dr Brian, and thanks Michio Kaku for reigniting my passion for physics all those years ago

What a treat to hear Dr Kaku speaking hard physics with an actual physicist at last! Those TV appearances have always seemed a little formulaic and general, which I guess is the name of the game for pop science. 5 testable areas of String Theory was totally news to me until watching this interview, thats damned exciting! You spoke with Sir Roger Penrose too, a man who spent many decades trying to raise funding to search the CMB for evidence of past aeons before the Big Bang - now I guess in a roundabout way, he succeeded finally! Even if he has no time for multiverse physics or string theory. The Lisa probe...another amazing thing I completely missed! I agree, the no-boundary theory is a damned cheat though it made for a nice book. Great pod episode!

Please keep making such discussions which are completely transparent and open to truth...I love I can listen to such discussions...I am grateful to listen and understand maybe just a tiny fraction of all in the discussion...Thank You...:)...Please keep making such discussions with people who are open and transparent to find and share knowledge and truth that they gained in their life...Thank You again...:)...

Your foot joke was great, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Great interview. I was particularly interested in his 5 tests. 2, 3 and 5 will tell us much about the universe.

I'm a virtual world enthusiast. I wonder if there are any scientists working on the future of virtual worlds. What's coming our way? Will virtual worlds be ubiquitous for socializing, working, and entertaining?

Thanks Brian, definitely on of the best talks ever. But just heard Paul Sutter confirm what I had deduced, that String Theory was an attempt to explain the strong nuclear force…explain why the energy of the Proton and Neuron nucleus was self containing, I’m 100% certain that String Theory is working in the wrong area. They are working on the Nucleus when they should be working to understand the Higgs Field. Michio is enjoyable to listen to, and you ran a great discussion. Thanks.

I was sipping coffee when you told your joke. I spat it all over my monitor and desk because I busted up laughing! 😂🤣 I’m giggling right now picturing you holding up your foot at the prof! 😂🤣🦶Holy cow I don’t know why it made me laugh so much. Maybe we share similar sense of humor.

I think a conversation between Michio Kaku and Eric Weinstein would be pretty fascinating. Not a debate, a conversation.

Great interview! At the end I had an ‘OH NO?’ Feeling. I was a Jr. HS Science teacher for four years. I hope my damage was minimal. LOL

Excellent interview! It’s great you had him on since he is so prolific and has inspired many people to pursue science careers. It’s also great to hear an expert push back on some of his string theory claims since many of his appearances are with laymen who don’t know that what he is saying is controversial.

Good interview dr. Keating. I read the Physics of Impossible many years ago, but I did not know that Mr. Kaku is the father of String Theory. Very interesting as well his story about his parents and details about his 70s paper with diagrams similar to Feynman diagrams. Thank you for your work.

From the Man in the Firing Room who helped launch Apollo 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and Skylab 2, 3, and 4, and helped build the flight computers on every Space Shuttle, my Father ::
Einstein's field equations are a math model, A MODEL, that describes the Variable Index of Refraction of the EM Kinetic Dipole Field in Vacuum. The EM Field is a quantum gas of EM dipole particles. Solid particles ~~10(-42) meters in length. The EM Dipoles of the "EM Field" fill and kinetically collide in the Vacuum but coalesce around massive objects.

The EM field particle mass density gets denser near a planet for example. This leads to higher gravity fields because the EM Field is Gravity!

The EM Dipole Particle Mass Density Gradient at your local spot in the vacuum determines the amount of dipoles physically colliding with your particles. Via collisions these particles transfer momentum to your dipoles causing a momentum transfer or force called gravity. The force is directed along the EM Dipole Mass Density Gradient in Vacuum "DOWN".

There is NO SPACETIME !!!

Clocks tick slower in a denser magnetic field, Earth Surface, than in a less dense EM Field, space.

If you throw a mechanical clock in a glass of water it ticks slower because it has the drag of water atoms to fight. But time did not slow down.

Same is true for clocks in the EM Field. Put a mechanical clock in a volume of dense EM dipole field there is more drag on the arms of the clock and it slows down, not time, the clock, due to higher EM Dipole drag.

Less dense dipole field in space provides less drag. so clock tick faster. Same goes with atomic clocks. the back pressure of the denser EM field, VACUUM PRESSURE, pushes on the Cesium nucleus and the higher pressure slows down the vibrations, time does not slow down, ever!

The Dipoles are colliding with your body at "c" transferring momentum to you in the down direction.

EM Dipole Vacuum Pressure also causes Gravitational Redshift. Photons are under less pressure in space so they redshift. When photons enter the higher EM Field density at Earth's surface it EM Field compresses the volume of EM Dipoles in the Photon making it physically smaller so its diameter, or wavelength, get smaller and the photon blueshifts.

Simply put. Space and time NEVER WARP.

Simply put. The EM Field Kinetic Dipole Mass Density Gradients drive everything in the Universe.

So Relativity is a nice model of the variable index of refraction due to EM Dipole Particle Mass Density Gradients!

Relativity has no other meaning!
