Welcome to Dhandhe ki Baat! This is Alok Kejriwal
We are gonna be talking about business ideas...
...and insights. Today we are talking about "I" for Insights.
in the A to Z series
What is an Insight? Where is this found?
Where should we look for Insight?
Insight is a secret, literally. It's a treasure.
It's something you find when you look very hard; when you pray very hard; when you...
...think about something and suddenly it gets revealed.
It's a gift , So it is very very important...
... to look forward to Insights.
What is an Insight?
It's simply something that you can't see...
... but you can see .
And when you think and look hard enough you can find it .
When KBC was launched in India almost 10 to 12 years ago.....
...we used to all watch the program.
But when I used to watch the program then I used to feel
And when I used to call, I used to think why this call is not going through.
That was my insight and we took that problem
When Indian idol was launchd, we told Indian Idol
Sir! This time we will not work with calls but with SMS
From this we have got a very big opportunity to start the business to power Indian Idol
So, Insights are those....
.... secrets that you see when you....
...look at something and say
that there was something because of which I could improve it.
Now, are Insights important? Absolutely!
Insights are that rocket!
It is a rocket fuel that can take you from here....
.. to the last planet in the universe if you...
...power it up! Let's take an example of Facebook.
Mark Zuckerberg has so much insight. He understood...
...many years ago...
...that the speed of Facebook will slow down.
Before that could happen, he went and bought Instagram.
And even before...
...he had completed the purchase of Instagram, he still had that insight
that something else might stop working
and he bought Whatsapp!
And now Facebook owns Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.
So, no matter what you do, you are still on the Facebook network.
That is Insight! He is understanding the market..
...way better and before the other people.
What happens if you don't have insight? Well nothing happens...
..but your business will be flat; you will be left behind.
So the question is where to get insights?
How to get insights? It's very simple.
Insights come by reading,
by watching, by looking at data
by talking to people and constantly...
questioning the business...
...or the profession you do and not being satisfied.
I always say you have to be uncomfortable...
...being comfortable and that is when..
...you start saying that I want to find something,
I have to extract something more out of it, What's the insight in this.
And then when you start looking around, something happens.
To give you an example like the last example,
When gold rush happened in California,
a lot of people from different parts of the world came with sieves to take out gold from the river.
They were trying to look for gold!
But someone saw that and said
let these guys look for gold. We will not look for gold.
We will make shovels for these guys which is used to dig the soil.
They made more money
not the gold diggers
And after him an even wiser guy came along...
who said let me make garments for gold diggers
which will help them dig even better
And who was that guy? That guy was Levi Strauss
And the Levi's jeans came because of that Insight.
So, always have your mind open for Insights
Keep looking and looking for..
... things that are not visible but when you look hard enough
they will become visible and that will be..
... your amazing Insight to propel your life or career.
