Top 6 Underrated Fish in the Aquarium Hobby

Let's talk today about six fish that need to get more respect and admiration. I will also talk about some comments from viewers regarding a poll that I put out on underratted fish.

I couldn’t agree more with you. In particular the goodeids. It’s not the most colorful fish but incredible behavior.

Love my Boesemanis! My second favorites are my dennison barbs too... I have some orange white clouds in my tub outside. AND Killi's are next up on my list. Great list, Mike, as always, I keep a lot of the fish you mentioned.

Couldn't agree more on the underrated fish. It's too bad the lesser known live-bearers are so hard to find locally. They are something I would definitely make some tank space for.

I agree with all of these! I love the danios and White Cloud Mountain Minnows

The various red tail goodeids and Characodon lateralis are also very colorful.

I still love danios, just more nano size like the tinwinny, probably spelled that wrong, oh well, and the mountain minnows are always so pretty to see and interesting to watch. There are so many tropical fish I've never heard of, still so many we don't even know about in the wild still.

Cherry barbs as well as checkerboard barbs have been a mainstay in my home for decades. They are amazing fish and when they are breeding, the vibrancy of their colors are even more stunning.. I also like the zebra danios in the longfin version because when they swim, they look like water fairys. I keep many fish on this list and never get tired of them. <•))))~{

I do enjoy Zebras still and have recently added them back in aquariums..
I love barbs.. I keep several barbs . I actually can keep Odessa barbs with long finned Zebras.
I keep white clouds with my rosy barbs and Chinese barbs..

Fish are One of my favorite pets overall they seem to be underrated anyways but I like to have fish in my room one of my favorites is a zebra danio and I have a little baby zebra danio in one of my tanks

I'm just quarantining a group of cherry barbs for the planted aquarium in my classroom. I think that I will add some of my fluorescent gold plays as well. Both should be able to successfully reproduce in that tank because of the carpet of pearlweed.

Are they really underrated when they're among the most popular aquarium fish? All of these fish are sold in any fish store. I was expecting you to use your knowledge on species to shout out underrated fish lol
