Another sad aspect to this incident, is that the 9-year-old who was murdered was friends with the killer's own 9-year-old son. I can't imagine how the killer's son is processing all of this.

Cases like this make me think that we should sometimes allow some cruel and unusual punishments like medieval torture techniques. Simple jail or death penalty is not sufficient here.
