Zion: See the Entire Narrows (Top to Bottom)

If you watched our Top 10 National Park video, you know that Zion National Park made the list. It's one of the "big ones" and there are so many things to do and see at Zion. Some of the most popular hikes include the Observation Point, Angel's Landing, Emerald Pools, Watchman Overlook and if you're okay with renting some gear and getting wet, the Narrows. Most RVers visiting Zion hike the Narrows from the bottom and hike upstream as far as they have time. But if you're looking for an adventure, hiking the entire trail from the top down is well worth the effort. In this episode, KYD Insider Kent Wilson was our Zion Narrows guide and helped us plan and prepare for what we thought was going to be a 15.5 mile hike. At least that's what the park service says. Yet, all the reviews on All Trails said it was closer to 21 miles. We figured those reviews were people that took side trips or had faulty GPS data. Turns out, they were right. Marc's (non-sponsored) Garmin Fenix 6 watch said 20.5 miles when arriving back at the shuttle. If you're up for the adventure, this hike is spectacular. Although it's difficult in regards to miles and technical terrain, it's really not hard overall being downhill and protected from the sun most of the day. Each of the boy's hydro backpacks held 2.5 liters of water, which was plenty for us. Carson had extra water just in case, but it was not needed. The park service did not recommend filtering water due to Blue Algae.

My husband and I hiked the bottom half for my 60th birthday with our grown sons about 5 yrs ago- great memories- legs were total rubber even with just doing half but it is still our #1 best family memory.
