Sifan Hassan - Women's Marathon Olympic champion! | #Paris2024 highlights

Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands has raced to victory in a new Olympic record in the Paris 2024 women’s marathon on Sunday 11 August. The Dutch athlete braved the undulating course that wound through some of the most iconic sights in Paris, finishing the race in 2:22:55. Tigst Assefa from Ethiopia took second place and Hellen Obiri from Kenya took third place.

Stayed up til 4.30am here on the east coast of Canada to watch this. What a dramatic ending to an unbelievable race.

Who else saw how Tigist Assefa blocked Sifan from overtaking her at 5.53min in this clip (i.e at the 2hr 22min 21sec mark)?
Olympic officials need to act decisively against this behaviour, otherwise she might assume it's acceptable😢

If you look from 0:51 and go frame by frame (you can use the dot / comma to go forward / backwards) you can see Assefa putting her elbow out to push out Hassan. Glad gold went to Hassan tbh.
