Tree ripe peaches and apricots are different. Nice to be able to pick them from your own trees and have it for breakfast .

Why plant the trees so close? It looks like you have plenty of space.

Careful about wanting a better fruit set. We had a really warm, mild spring this year. Our local ag extension says years between full apricot crops is about once every 5 years (southernmost areas of the state) and a bit less for the colder areas. Mine are going in pots (apriums, too).

Ross, great video. Have you done any grafting on apricot trees. Omg watching the juice from the apricot as you bite into it had my mouth watering.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever even tasted a fresh apricot in my life, I don’t recall seeing them in stores. I’ve only eaten them dried which I don’t care for. But I just planted two apricot trees. If they are anything like peaches or plums I’m sure I’ll enjoy them.

We used to go pick apricots from the pick-your-own farms in central CA... Tree ripe just can't be beat.

Ah, ...."if you live in a warm, dry climate....try apricots, ....that figures, growin' up in a small se Utah town, many people had apricot trees in their backyards, one trailer court, the Red Rock trailer court had between 2 to 3 trees as shade for each trailer space and just behind Family Drug and First Security Bank of Utah(now Wells Fargo), there was one big Apricot tree and 2 smaller ones, they weren't watered at all, I guess the snowmelt was enough moisture for the trees and come harvest time us kids would gorge ourselves on the free apricots! :)

nice job, but too ripe I grow Blenheim apricots in CA, when an apricot gets to a certain ripeness it loses flavor and just gets really sweet those are really great for canning though, you should try to pick them for eating just before they begin to get soft you want them firm to the touch this will get you a lot more flavor of the apricot and less of the overpowering sweetness, its your tree though you can eat them however you want haha 😂👍

Ok....that made me laugh. "I need to grow more arpricots"...I am in Southern Virginia 7b, a swampy region. I think I have to give these a try. I struggle with stone fruits and raspberries because it is so wet. BUT where there's a mound there's a way!. You've sold me! I have to try.

Apricots boil down to the latest spring frost. I had one for years in 6b. If it fruites, they always dropped before ripening. Very disheartening. Now I'm in 7b and want to put in a Blenheim in. Your suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Very knowledgeable! I just planted a Moorpark Apricot. I'm here in Ohio next door and I'm looking forward to growing mine!

In SoCal here (LA), growing 4 Apricot seedlings rn. Hopefully they turn out good. Since I am growing them from the seed of a store bought fruit its really a gamble. Were your Apricots grown from seed??

How old are the trees, since when have you had them in the ground? Were they bare-root or in pots?

store fruits are normally picked before ripen. So, homegrown is normally much better.

I've never had a store bought apricot that comes close to tree fresh. It so sad that I used to hate them. The American Grocery industry has destroyed the flavor of real food.
