It's not just the acoustic recording, though. The natural quality of Caruso's voice and his wonderful open-throated technique allow him to effortlessly transcend the technical inadequacies that drown the performances of the other singers and the orchestra.

This restored presentation of the famous recording reminds us yet again of Caruso's greatness, but also of how inadequately the acoustic recording horn captured concerted pieces and in particular the soprano and mezzo voices.

This most definitely is NOT the 1917 recording with Galli-Curci. It is the 1908 recording with MARCELLA SEMBRICH, GINA SEVERINA and ANTONIO SCOTTI.
