I had 30 yr as a firefighter. I am a wild land certified firefighter and have been involved with wild land management also... California is predisposed wild fires each and every yr... this is the same as a lot of states. If there were no agencies to fight fires and fire, it was allowed to burn as nature intended each and every year. All the extra fuels would burn. Therefore, the fires would be much smaller... now that we have agencies that put out every fire they come across, fuels build up to what is called a heavy fire load. Basically, California has very poor land management, and this allows fuels to build up over time so that, when the conditions are right and a fire starts, the fire will burn very hot and out if control and so quickly burning thousands of ac. California has so many tree huggers that speak out against control burning. land management burns unwanted fuels such as downed old dead trees over grown brush and so on, this keep fuels to a minimum, so when a fire does break out, it's easy to control and put out. There us a lot more to the story... basically, the state is listening to the rong people who called them self's experts and even have the title to go along with it... such as fire chief... in California, you do not even have to have any fire experience of training to be a so-called fire chief...
