I demonstrate how to transpose data in the SPSS data editor. I do so using the basic transpose utility, but I also use the restructure data wizard utility which facilitates more complex requirements.

You have no idea how badly I needed this tutorial. Was trying to google how to do this in excel, (to no avail),  then stumbled upon this channel. Thanks so much.

SPSS usually requires that you enter your data in rows and columns. Cases are in each row. Variables are in each column. Can I enter a matrix of data in spss and analyze it from there? Let us say I want to run a chi square test of association table with three columns and three rows. Can I input the matrix and go from there or do I have to enter the data in the usual stacked format?

If you have a finite number of responses (e.g., for a closed-ended question), you can recode those answers as integers while it's still a string variable and then simply change the variable type to 'numerical'. Hope this helps, seven months later!

How we can emerge times 1-3 in one long column? I need a single column for mixed model.

Hi
I am trying to analyse data that I obtained from a hospital

The data looks like this

Patient Drug
JohnX Alpha
JohnX Gama
JohnX Pana
JohnX Sega
MikeX Sega
MikeX Zole
MikeX Dol

I want to re-struct the data so it would look like this
Patient Alpha Gama Pana Sega Zole Dole
JohnX 1 1 1 1 0 0
MikeX 0 0 0 1 1 1

Is it doable in SPSS? how?
Many thanks
