Rewriting History: The Ancient Origins of Egypt's Great Sphinx

When you think of ancient Egypt, how old do you think most of the structures in that area actually date back to? The sphinx tells an interesting story because of its weathering patterns, and primarily rain, not wind and sand. Was ancient Egypt around 3000 B.C. really just a legacy from an earlier cycle of civilization?

Maybe the valley of kings wasn't a valley at all. But a great big mountain. And in all of them thousands of years, the true city was covered up and we haven't dug down far enough. I believe that would be the only way that the sphinx could be older. Otherwise the sphinx would have been buried along with the whatever is down there
