We see, you're a Pinoy man of culture 😏 as well as a person who loves anime music and jpop I approved

Youtube Music has a larger selection since it falls back to user uploaded content, which is great for more obscure music.

It’s shocking to me that you guys didnt mention how artists are compensated for the music. Apple Music pays almost double the amount that spotify does for each stream. I think it is important to remember that small artists need to make a living off of streaming too and spotify is simply ripping them off.

I recently switched to Apple music and somehow it’s better at discoverability for me. Spotify would basically ignore years of data on what kinds of music I mostly listened to; Apple started giving me relevant suggestions almost immediately.

Both are great and offers its unique features, as someone who have tried both (I even exclusively listened to Apple Music in Android and it worked flawlessly). Apple Music is great if you're preferring audio quality and Spotify is great for their algorithm & I think people made more playlists in Spotify more.

I use both regularly, Spotify on my Windows PC and Apple Music in my car, on my iPhone and Macbook, and I find them both pretty good in their own regards. Spotify definetly has the better radio/automatic playlist function but Apple Music is just less cluttered with stuff which makes finding specific songs and albums easier. But the lack of a proper Windows app makes me jump back to Spotify as soon as I'm on my PC.

As a musician, I use Apple Musics "library sync" all the time 'cause it lets me sync sync all my demos for speaker testing and now I cant live without it

Been using Spotify since 2014 and switched to Apple Music in 2021. Apps that transfer playlists takes out the fomo and a couple of my friends are also using AM anyway so I'm happy over here. I value the library organization and the UI design, as well as the focus on adding features that users care about like spatial and lossless audio. That vocal removal feature too is very nice when you want to sing along or practice the instrumentals.

I had Spotify for years and was pretty happy with the service. Then when I got YouTube Premium, i jumped over to YouTube Music (YT Music) since it comes complimentary with watching YouTube without ads. I probably wouldn't pay extra for YT Music given how good Spotify has become, but it is pretty good and goes toe to toe with the others. Plus, for heavy users of YouTube, having YT Music feeds the algorithm and improves the recommended videos to the feed

What I want to see from one of these services is group listening with strangers. Spotify had an addon a long time ago where you could create these lobbies for music genres and everyone would vote on songs they want to play and talk about music with each other. It was such a cool feature. I really love music and it was fun to meet other people in these chat rooms to discuss music and what's playing in the room. Can't find it on spotify anymore and haven't been able to find anything similar since.

Have been using Spotify for about 10 years now i think. For me it was the most convenient way to listen to my podcasts and even had most of the smaller artists that other platforms, at least at the time, didn't have. All that being said, I am not loyal to the brand in any way. If something better comes out I'd most likely switch to it, after surviving the dreadful realization of losing 12 extremely poorly arranged playlists that each have around 2-3k+ songs in them. The main issue I have with Spotify, and I assume this is not only Spotifys issue, is the monetary compensations the artists get. All in all; I'll sit on the fence with my legs dangling to whichever way they do at the moment.

I operate with Apple Music and YouTube Music because it comes with YT Premium anyway and between these two I am covered pretty well. Another thing about Apple Music that fell under the rug in your presentation was the classical music app that really cracked the code in managing classic music as it just doesn't follow the artist-album-track scheme having sometimes multiple orchestras having recorded the same oeuvre of a composer. Certainly a niche for contemporary listeners but nevertheless quite the geat.

Don’t forget the actual dj mixes and radio shows on Apple Music one of the big reasons why I stick wit it. No one ever mentions it in comparisons

I use YouTube music and get YouTube premium included with the subscription. So far Apple and Spotify have not included a similar benefit for my tastes. 🤷🏻

one thing that spotify did to secure my vote was that they recently changed the playlist picker UI in the mobile app. I have almost 400 different playlists, and being able to save a song to multiple playlists at a time is actually a game changer.

I switched back to spotify after using apple music for 2 years. Not cause it's better. But Apple music suddenly had this bug where thousands of my songs werent available in my region, but weirdly after I deleted and added each song again it would be ok. I wasnt about to do that for more than 3 thousand songs. I tried all the fixes but nothing worked. So after gettign fed up i just switched back to spotify

Apple Music all the way for me. I can't stand Spotify's cluttered UI and their discovery features have never really worked for me - my music preferences aren't really defined by genre - whereas Apple's "More Like This Artist" feature surfaces much more relevant results for me. That plus the lossless quality, which blows Spotify away on a wired connection (even without a DAC) and even improves the sound quality on good Bluetooth cans (lossless + Bluetooth compression > compressed lossy audio + Bluetooth compression), at no extra charge, puts Apple Music as the clear winner.

I personally like yt music because it's pretty much the same thing and yt premium is included when you get yt music premium or vise versa.

Great video, but there was an important point left out; Royalties!

As a musician, that’s the main deciding factor of what platform I choose to stream on. Apple Music pays 3 times more per stream compared to Spotify, and Tidal pays out almost twice as much as Apple Music. The reach and discovery on Spotify is leagues better though for sure.

Currently though, Napster pays out the most, which is funny because it was one of the major factors in how we consume music nowadays.

Regardless of what platform you choose, support your artist friends too!

YouTube music is slept on… with a vpn you can get premium super cheap and also with YT music you almost never need to worry about not finding a track
