LIVE: President Biden delivers remarks on lowering cost of prescription drugs with Sen. Sanders

President Biden will tout his administration's progress in bringing down medication costs during a visit to New Hampshire Tuesday alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders. Mr. Biden is scheduled to speak at Concord Community College, where he will highlight a new report by the Department of Health and Human Services that found nearly 1.5 million Medicare enrollees saved nearly $1 billion on prescription drugs in the first half of 2024.

You haven't been paying attention over the last 20 years, or you're too young to know. If someone lost their insurance their new insurance company wouldn't cover any medical needs they already had prior to the new coverage. I used to pay $1, 600 a month just on one medication. Once that same medication wasn't brand name only and was allowed to be released with other companies as a generic the cost is now $4 a month. If someone had serious preexisting conditions, they had a choice of no insurance coverage at all with a new company or COBRA to be able to keep coverage for that illness. COBRA insurance premiums were astronomical. Many couldn't survive either way. No coverage should let someone die because they couldn't pay for care out of pocket, and/or they couldn't afford COBRA premiums. It literally was a matter of life or death for some people. I worked in insurance for over a decade and I also worked in healthcare for over a decade. This is why the ACA was put together and why pharmaceutical companies are having to negotiate prices. No matter what country someone lives in, people shouldn't die because of corporate greed, but they were. That's the whole point.
