Why not sand the nut to size before gluing it in

Hey I'm getting ready to change the nut on this exact guitar and exact replacement nut. Does it just drop right in the right height with no sanding? Or do I have to sand it down to the right heighth? I'm really hoping I don't have to sand the bottom. I'm a noob to this.

Yeah the nut would not come out so I had to destroy it!Took a chunk out if the rosewood fingerboard!Luckily it broke clean and I was able to glue it back after the Tusq nut was installed.I let it dry overnight and touched it up with dark stain so it is almost undetectable.I ground down the overhang with a sanding disc and finished rounding it off wuth a needle file.Sounds louder and stays in tune after bends much better, they used way too much glue when they put in the factiry nut!

seems like it's not the correct nut for your guitar. You should have used a flat bottom nut. and I don't understand why tou use wood glue on TUSQ...

oof.. so many red flags here. GORILLA GLUE?!? You also removed the og nut diagonally, which is a huge no no for fender guitars

Jesus Christ, everything is wrong in this. Firstly you hit the old nut from the side and it will come straight out of the guitar, I'd take the excess glue off with a small chisel or file.
