Easily one of, if not the most ‘colourful’ characters you’ve covered so far, Ed.

Keep up the great work as always!

The sad thing about Howard Hughes was he built a hospital, but he needed to be hospitalized himself, ! After he suffered a head injury in a plane crash he was never the same!

Orlando Bloom should have played HH in the bio-pic, "The Aviator". The OCD some believe came from injuries recieved when a WW1 bomber he was flying CRASHED. This happened during the filming of, "HELL'S ANGELS".
That was one of the great unplanned movie stunts caught on film.

Back in the day, when Hughes had obsessive/ compulsive disorder, it was considered quite eccentric.

Fast forward to now, a third of the folks around have OCD, and people treat it as “ normal “ ..😅😅😮

I remember seeing two biographical movies about his life. "The Amazing Mr. Hughes, " a made for TV movie, starring Powers Booth in the title role, and "The Aviator, " with Leonardo DiCaprio. The first movie went into greater detail about his life. Starting with his rise as an aviator pioneer, his founding of RKO-Radio Movie Pictures and Movie Theaters. Witch after he founded circa the 1920's, to it's decline and eventual bankruptcy, which many people blamed on Mr. Hughes, after he unfortunately a serious head injury from a plane crash in one of his airplane crafts, which he never fully recovered from. Also, the former made for TV movie I mentioned above, dramatized his sad decent into germ phobia and eventual mental illness. Also, near the end of the movie, it showed where all his business associates, FINALLY put him on an airplane to take him to a hospital, but it was too late since Mr. Hughes' condition was too far gone and beyond hope, and he died on the airplane on the way to the hospital. Also, despite being one of the richest men in the world, because of his germ phobia, he starved to death for fear of catching germs from his food! In addition, I remember in some of the middle scenes in the TV Movie, that all his secretaries, receptionists, and business associates, were forced to wear white gloves, due to his gern phobia, and when he walked from one office or to to one room, all his staff, he had them keep a safe distance from him, again due to his fear of catching germs. Sad, tragic and true!

He was told he had to vacate a penthouse as it was booked by another group, he simply said no and brought the hotel. he also brought the casino across the street so he could take down the neon sign as it kept him up at night.

He was certainly a fascinating gent who lived quite an exciting and varied life. I didn’t know he was connected to RKO.
We continue to appreciate your bios. Cheers!

He did not like the plane to be referred to as the Spruce goose and said he called it the Hercules! I learned that from the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Poor Howard was nutty, but he was really HOT looking in his prime💋

He had a serious relationship with Katherine Hepburn in the 1930s.

Is it bad that I think of Mr Burns wearing shoe boxes on his feet, long fingernails, telling Smithers to get into a model of “The Spruce Goose” at gunpoint when I think of Howard Hughes?
