Comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who has been advocating for Lyle and Erik Menendez for years, is happy to know that the Los Angeles County District Attorney is reviewing the case of the brothers who have served more than three decades in prison for killing their parents. O’Donnell, appearing on “CUOMO” with the Menendez brothers’ attorney Mark Geragos, says that, back then, “no one was ready to believe that fathers raped their sons. But they do.”

My mother slapped my face when I came home and told her what the Catholic Priest did to me. She said no man of God would do such a thing and send me back to him. I'm now 70 and every single day I remember what he did to me for years and my mother insisted I lied. Beyond the acts he did, to be blamed as lying was added salt in the wound.

It’s about time this case was revisited. The judge in the original 2 cases is a disgrace. It’s no wonder they were jailed when their evidence wasn’t allowed. I live in Perth Australia and have been watching all documentaries about them. Wishing them all the luck 🍀

I feel like if there's even a chance the abuse happened, they should be released. People do far worse and spend less than 35 years in jail. Free them

Anyone who asks “why didn’t you tell someone” or “why didn’t you walk away” does not understand the psyche of children who have abused their entire lives. These brothers knew that the only way for them to be free of this man was for him to be dead. They knew that they could not talk about what happened, and they knew that they would not be believed which, obviously they were not. They had no one to turn to they had no one who would believe them. Especially back in the 80s. I grew up abused by my own dad and could never talk about it to anyone. Things were much different back then.

I remember when they were arrested and even before the incest claim was mentioned I felt something didn't add up. The amount of pressure from an abuser to keep quiet is devastating and even more so if a parent is the abuser. I applaud you Rosie for your courage to speak about the long term damage an adult can inflict on a child.

Unless you are a victim of abuse (or know someone close enough and believe), you will not know how it can mess you up. Murder was and is not justified, but neither is life imprisonment for those young boys who were not only abused by both parents, but failed by the system. Their mental state is similar to PTSD, like those who suffered trauma from war. Kudos to Rosie for speaking in their defense.

I was a sr in h school not far from Hollywood. A friend of mine at that time dad worked with Jose ( attended funerals) He said describing Jose as frightening and abusive is an understatement.
