As a New Mexican citizen we definitely appreciate our fire fighters! The fires have been so hard this year

Pay them more, militaries deserve it.

As a training fireman and a military kid, you have more respect than most people will ever get from me sir.

I make over 100k a year building commercial buildings for a large contractor. Why don’t men and women who save our lives get more money then 52k a year.

52k is amazing in New Mexico. I'm getting paid the same but can only afford shared housing in California 😭

Hell yeah, it's always a great way to represent our state. Resident and Marine from Las Cruces, NM. Rah!

I've thought a lot about being a marine and a firefighter on the civilian side. Just never thought I'd have time to do it as an active marine. But I honestly might go through and do that, seems like something I'd love

Already risking your life twice to get 52k insane, we have people on blogs making twice that much

Pay depends entirely on the city, some cities will pay 100k salary where as some will pay 12 dollars an hour

Damn just like my husband, 10 years in the corps and going on 5 at the fire station. Love that man.

Naw, they don't get paid as well as they should! Here in Washington D.C., I believe they start out in the mid 60's or high 50's! They also receive certain living and housing perks from the city, though! So, I'm sure those things help out!
