That video was fun to watch. I love seeing old, nonworking locomotives brought back to life. You could do without the time limit, though. I would rather see you take the time to do a proper job and not have to cut corners because of time. Also, by not having to rush, you can take the time to show your repairs more clearly. I am definitely looking forward to your next repair video.

Hi Sam, only discovered your channel recently and I now find it compulsive viewing! 'Salvage or Scrap' adds another dimension! My last model train was a Hornby OO in the 1950s, that my dad had great fun building a permanent layout for! Unfortunately in 1959 we moved house and there was no space at the new home for the layout! That was the end of my train hobby! Keep up the excellent work your channel is so entertaining, I look forward to the next video. Thank you

Yay, Salvage or Scrap is back! I'm watching this while installing a sound decoder into a loco, and I'm glad I don't have such a tight time limit. I also find it interesting how old British model locomotives were built.

Those blue polystyrene packing things you use as a cradle are really useful for that. Though I've seen stalls at exhibitions trying to charge £10 for them- i found one lying on the street the other day, a quick rinse under the tap was all it needed!

Your trouble shooting and motor knowledge is impressive. Motors are a mystery to me. I enjoy watching your repair videos, but I personally prefer you working without such a tense time limit. Kudos!

Hi Sam, , I have great pleasure in cleaning and oiling all my new additions and i find that cleaning the wheels with loads of built up gunk on them is most gratifying and cleaning the bodies are just as gratifying but i use cotton buds and just normal kitchen bench cleaner and is safe with most paints and decals except for the really early triang locos and some carriages which the paint tends to run a bit.
You can certainly tell if you have purchased a loco from a smoking house or not.
I have also noticed that that most of the trains i buy have like a sweatly clothes cupboard type of fresh clean linen smell to them and these are mostly from the uk.
Yet another awesome video there sam and keep them coming.
Thanks heeps for the oarsum video.
Cheers from John in Australia.

These always feel very early to mid 2000s project shows like mythbusters. There’s such A charming nostalgic feel. From the music to the title cards, it’s very refreshing in an odd way.

Really enjoyed watching you use your skills under pressure conditions! Great effort despite hard wiring the tender power wire! And it worked after its repair. Well done 🎉🎉

Brilliant as usual, Sam. You might find an ultrasonic cleaner useful for removing crud from engine bodies and wheels.
