I just want to say that a considerable portion of the University of Alabama School of Medicine class of 2018 would like to thank you and replace our current pharm professor with you. We also would give you our teaching award, but they would't let us write in candidates. Thanks so much for making this all make sense!!

Nice explanation. I have seen people counteract the side effects of flushing by taking Ranitidine about 30-60 mins prior to alcohol . Of course, always seek a medical professionals opinion prior to taking any medication.

2 comments - I am not Asian and I get the flushing pretty bad. Could drink with no effects until I was about 30ish but stopped as it got worse with age. Didn't seem worth it to take pills to cover booze! Also - my chem is a bit rusty, but at 4.04 the chemical structure should be H3C-C(minus)=O, as all that has been removed is a hydrogen ion, not added another carbon atom. Thanks for great lectures
