Gavin Hoey is probably the best common man photography tutor on Youtube. Adorama have got a star on their chanel.

Great tutorial. What I like most is that you ALWAYS provide ALL of the shooting data ; many others do not and it becomes a guessing game ; furthermore, your tutorials are straight to the point, and I, as well as others, do appreciate not having to listen to a bunch of unnecessary BS. Thanks for the manner in which you present your training.

Excellent... Gavin's videos are the best offered by Adorama. Love the fact that they always have two parts: getting the shot and post production.

The best thing with Gavin is that he uses the same camera and lens all the time and I believe this differs him from others.

I like him, i really do. I watch most of his videos, but mostly because he's fun to watch. The only thing you really LEARN from him, is "Bump the contrast", and "I'm not afraid of a high ISO". Don't get me wrong, he takes some really nice images, he's fun to watch, but he's not super informative. The most i've learned from his videos is when he has a guest.

Nice. Could you also clone out the flash by taking a pic without the model (perhaps as an "after") as a reference shot and somehow subtracting it?

A note to adorama TV:
Having Gavin Hoey as one of your presenter is the best move you have done!

This would work if we can meter on the model? Either with spot metering or a flash meter? And no need to be all over the place with the f-stop.

I would also use the same technique even in complete darkness outdoors.

Surely the point of the video is A: To show how to use off camera flash and B: How, if you make a mistake, you can correct any errors in the photo using PS. Gavin is a photographer and PS guru. It would have been a bit boring if he said, "Hi, I'm Gavin Hoey. Here's a perfect photo I took - and look at the clarity!"

Thats pretty amazing! Gavin might have done a little more work to the flash removal, though. Didn't look very natural to me, but I love the overall idea and stuff. (:

Doesn't diffraction kick in after F/9 for most cameras? I know my 60D starts to experience diffraction after f/6, but looks good until f/12-14 after f/16 the image gets soft.
