Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

He’s a very convincing drunk. People don’t realize how hard it is to act drunk without it looking comical or goofy. Natural drunkenness is pretty difficult.

I love how he played these guys from start to finish. He actually got THEM to find him a nice, out of the way place where he could clip them.

Classic Mike -- he set this up not only to seek revenge, but also to confirm that he was doing the "right thing" by getting the dirty cops to confirm their guilt without a doubt. He didn't take them out on suspicion alone.

Just a reminder that Mike was only supposed to be a one off character.

Easily one of the most recognizable and memorable characters ever put to screen.

I love how the first thing Mike does canonically is ice two cops it just sets his character perfectly

They really nailed the mannerism and accents of these crooked philly cops. All the side characters are so believable like you could see them on the street

3:01 Fuck. I just realized. Mike knew the gun was unloaded and waited to shoot until Fenske pulled the trigger. He wanted the bastard to feel the fear of being helpless and unarmed before he was shot, a twist of the knife to demonstrate his sheer hatred.

I love how Better Call Saul truly makes you fear for what will happen to characters you know will live

"Smart. It's what I would have done if I were you."

He knew every move they'd make and acted accordingly to get them alone and vulnerable.

"You killed him for nothing. You killed him because you were scared what you thought he might do."
Explains why he hated himself so much for killing Werner

"You killed him for nothing. You killed him because you were scared of what he might do."

Kind of foreshadows Mike's eventual fate in a weird way.

I really like how the cops don't immediately die after being shot. Feels realistic how the adrenaline keeps the one guy alive even after being shot multiple times.

Has anyone else noticed that Mike seems to prefer revolvers for his dirty work rather than autos? I think it's in keeping with his character. Revolvers don't spit evidence brass onto the ground.

I love how LOUD these gunshots are. Actually feel realistic and shocking.

"I've known good criminals and bad cops" Mike is badass with integrity.

The thing I love about Mike is that he knows he’s beyond redemption for this and the many other shady things he’s done in the past, so he continues to do bad things but for the right reasons. In essence Mike is what Walter failed to be.

in BrBa season 5 Mike tells Lydia that he doesn't kill people as a prophylactic measure. It makes perfect sense if you compare that scene to this one, where he accuses those two cops of killing his son for nothing, just because they were afraid of something he might do or not do. Really shows you how consistent his character is in hating those people who are willing to waste lives for mere "prevention".

Sending them to prison would've been a half measure. Mike would never make that mistake again

I love how Mike isn't the first one to shoot, he lets the thugs dig their own graves first before putting them down.

The cop that was driving is amazing. He was tearing up big time when Mike was explaining how he knows they did it. You can tell he feels guilty as hell during that.
