From the day I was born, my dad showed me 80's music. When I was 10, I discovered vocaloid. Now, 10 years later, I listen to Miku 80's music. I'm fine with this timeline, I regret nothing.

You know astro, your project isn't only a way to listen to great remixes, but also a great way to discover the originals that I didn't know existed.

I've found out about a lot of really great artists that I wouldn't have otherwise known about through these covers

This is probably one of the most transformative covers I've ever heard. I listened to this, and when a few days later I got the original in my recommended, I didn't even make the connection.
The original feels much warmer, but also more defeated. This feels less like being crushed by the reality of the present, but by the past and your regrets. It's more bittersweet where the original feels like yelling hopelessly into the void.
The original feels like it's lamenting what they failed to achieve, while this laments the loss of an idealistic past that may have never even existed, those halcyon memories born of nostalgia poisoning.

Because they carry such different energies I think this is the first time I'm legitimately unable to decide if I like the original or the cover more, it's like comparing scrambled eggs to an AK-74u; I deeply enjoy both but for very different reasons. a lot of covers, even if I love both, one or the other will edge out as my preferred version, but these just register on such wildly different metrics.

The Miku covers really introduced me to past songs that I didn't know existed. It's fricking cool.

Now I have this little headcanon of an astronaut floating through the static of space and time, sometimes witnessing the shenanigans of a Miku (or an entire clone band of four) belting out 80s covers that are as much of a banger as the original.

You're keeping Miku alive with these covers. Feels like I'm back in 2009.

What strikes me about these videos of Miku doing covers of classic 80s songs is how the whole idea of Miku & the entire vocaloid phenomenon feels like it should've been an 80s phenomenon. I can't think of anything more 80s than the idea of people making music using Japanese voice synthesizers & creating outsider art for the music videos.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I can totally see Miku & the gang with big hair & leg warmers, jamming with Max Headroom & owning MTV.

Am the only one who feels like this?

Miku still sounds great all these years later, she never ages. May Miku live forever through your remixes Astro.

For a moment there I thought you were going to stop with Miku after you finished your album. But I'm very glad to see you add at least a few more tracks with Miku to your record ^_^

Astro, we have never met. And we probably never will. But your music has gotten me through some tough times and has either spoken to me or spoken for me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I don't know what it is you do differently from other people who use Miku, but you make her sound so much more organic and nicer. I can't get enough of your music.
