On Sunday morning, Carol spoke with LBC's Matthew Wright about her ordeal with the disease which has involved the removal of her right eye due to ocular melanoma.

Her family are now desperately raising funds for pay for life-saving cancer treatment, having already paid £200,000 on previous operations.

The page of Go Fund Me reads: "Carol Player aged 60 is a wife, mother and grandmother to 7 year old twin boys Jack and James.

"Her two sons Adam and Alex along with friends & family are raising funds to get her the treatment she desperately needs in order to save her life.

"Many of you may already be aware of our mum’s cancer story and the journey we have been on to this point.

"Unfortunately, our family finds ourselves in a position where we are again, having to appeal for help funding mum’s cancer treatment."

As a three time head and neck cancer survivor. Who also had to pay £58k for Cancer no2 (surgery and radiation) to be addressed privately in London. Due to the South West not being able to deal with it. Due to “complexity and lack of available resources”. Then I have spent the last 8 years… wrestling to gain basic care to address the life changing chronic illness and life changing disabilities. That cancer “treatment” has left me in. The brutal state of medical care in this nation is a joke… only no one is laughing!!! 😔

My primary concern here, is not for myself. But for YOU and anyone else left to face this truly brutal situation.

I remember a brave lady many years ago flagging up on TV that breast cancer drug Herceptin needed to be available on the NHS which it became thanks to her and others.These brave ladies are saving themselves as well as other people by speaking out 💎🌹❤️
