The Spokesmen were a Philly trio that featured David White, John Madara & WIBG DJ Ray Gilmore. They recorded & rush released the answer record to the #1 hit Eve Of Destruction on Decca & took it all the way to #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #20 on Wibbage in early autumn of 1965. It would also reach #14 on the Philadelphia best selling singles list. For three weeks in October both Eve Of Destruction & Dawn Of Correction were in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 simultaneously.

Group members White & Madara co-wrote a song called 'Do The Bop' in 1957 & after the label rejected it Dick Clark suggested changing the name to 'At The Hop' & it was released & spent 7 weeks at #1. White, a member of Danny & the Juniors was the sole writer of their follow up "Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay" as well as co writer with Madara for songs You Don't Own Me by Lesley Gore, 1-2-3 by Len Barry (although they were sued by Motown who claimed it was a reworking of the flip side of Baby Love called Ask Any Girl) & The Fly by Chubby Checker.

The spelling should be "Corps" in Peace Corps. Aside from that, always enjoy listening to this song very much.
