Gaming With the $70 Nvidia GT 1030

Nvidia's answer to AMD's budget RX 550 is here, but how does the GT 1030 handle gaming? Well, despite the price, and ignoring the fact it performs similar to a couple of older and now cheaper cards, it's perfect for those E-Sports and less demanding titles.

With its low power consumption I reckon this will be the new Go-to for small SFF PC's that can be bought cheaply from old Office Stock... Great Video as usual.

$70 for something that does 60fps on HIGH wow sounds like a very good deal

The real benefit of this card is that it, like the Radeon HD 7570, can be slapped into a system with an OEM power supply as low as 250w. Considering this thing has a max power draw of 30w, I think that the price is worth it if you want a low power card to slap into some old desktop PC and run games from 2015 and prior at decent settings, and if you are willing to go low on newer titles.

Surprising enough that a GT x30 card with 64-bit bus (even with color compression) can handle modern (not that demanding) titles in 1080p. That was kind a shocker for me. =)

CS GO benchmarking problem!!

Your videos are brilliant and I watch all of them however I've noticed when looking at the FPS of CS GO you often change what map you're playing on. Today you used Canals. The problem with this is the optimisation of each map is widely different, especially say, comparing Canals with Dust II as Canals is a brand new map. If you could maybe use the same map every time then you'd get benchmarks which are as fair as possible for comparisons.

Want to thank you for the great low-end reviews! I'm getting back into building and upgrading my families aging (7 years +) computers. The low-end reviews help with video card upgrades. Just ordered 2 of the Radion HD 7570 you recommended in a video about another card. Sure these computers are of the 2010 era, but there is still much life left in them thanks to a Windows 8.1 or 10, more DDR2 RAM, and faster processors. I hope to help my mom cut the cable, and stream content from Hulu/Amazon/Netflix. Thank you for making a difference. I subscribed to you channel and love hearing of the inexpensive updates you make. I'm beginning to go through my own stack of computers and re-evaluate the things they could do if they had the chance for an upgrade.

Price will probably drop to the $50-$60 range once GT 730 stock sells out. The biggest "upgrade" the GT 1030 offers is distancing itself from he product confusion of the GT 730, which sells in both DDR3 and GDDR5, with the 64-bit version being confusingly better than the 128-bit part.

I am really liking this GPU so far. I don't own one but the performance is quite frankly brilliant for what it is. If the price comes down a bit I can see this being a very popular GPU for budget gamers. Something like this paired with a 1366x768 monitor will make for a pretty solid gaming experience, even in new AAA titles.

The only real issue is price, for just a little more you can pick up a significantly more capable GPU. I would like to see it come down to about $50 - $60 depending on features with $50 being a basic no frills version and $60 maybe upping the vRAM etc.
