This is how they learn not to bite hard as puppies actually, from their littermates. Their littermates squeal, and so they know they bit too hard! So this is a good training technique if your dog often nips.

I did this with my Dachshund and he said "I'll give you something to cry about" and hit me with a chair.

This is a real training tactic to teach the doggo’s to be gentle (especially in the puppy stage when they really do bite hard), I usually say “yip” in a really high and quick voice and pull away. Worked really well with our dogs

Dogs learn as puppies how to “say sorry”, aka lick the one they bit to show that they’re sorry, so it makes sense that this applies to their owners too. It also works the other way around, if you step on your dogs foot or something like that you can give them pets and they’ll know you didn’t mean it.

I tried this with my husky and he IMMEDIATELY felt HORRIBLE and layed down on top of me a cried. I felt so bad because he has actually nipped at someone before, he didn't draw blood but it was a tad bit aggressive. He came from an abusive home before we got him and he gets defensive over food because of it. (Which when he nipped someone went to take away his food bowl) and he felt bad for it right after and cried for the rest of the day. So when I pretended he hurt me he felt bad and then I felt bad and it was a mess but after I kissed him on the head, he knew he was good.
