Nissan X Trail Vs Patrol Off Road

With the new wheels and suspension on the little Nissan X-Trail, we decided to take it on a gentle tour of the countryside.

Lots of people ask me about the tyres on the X-Trail, they are BFG 225/75R16 set on steel wheels with 00 offset.

The X-Trails lift is a 45mm kit from Pedders and I added extra 30mm strut spacers up front.

Drove my T31 X Trail in the Indian Himalayas for a few weeks, driving and camping on the road. Had to cut out the DPF with a bit of help from a local mechanic as it couldn't regenerate and the low oxygen at high altitude wasnt helping. This aside we travelled in real comfort ( great heating / large sun-roof etc) on roads that were rough, with snow/ ice and rocky streams all the way on an amazing adventure. Love the X Trail. Enjoy!

I have the same xtrail t31 with 215/70/17 all terrain tyres. China special it seams to go every where I point it. I've had all the egr Blanked and deleted same with the dpf . It's done 180thousand miles still going strong

Hi I’m looking to get an Xtrail to take the Mrs / daughter / dog camping and do a bit of off roading. After searching online I see the 2.2 diesels are poor on reliability . Any recommendations? . Budget is about £4K Cheers

Hey, I’m looking to buy an Xtrail for overland style adventures, including camping on remote sand beaches. I want the same tire size and the lift as yours. Do you think a 2.5L CVT would handle it? Or should I look at Diesel+automatic / 2.0 Petrol + manual? There are many affordable Xtrails with CVT in a good condition on the market. Diesels are more expensive and mostly high mileage. So I can’t make up my mind. Any advice will be appreciated.
