ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this YouTube journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

my six sense has gotten good over the years haha, i knew the art was gonna be subpar the moment i saw the dramatic not really too informative videos, the clearly out of the loop watchers leaving super naive comments, the click baity personality oriented thumbnails, the focus on with nothing to show besides veeeery long and boring swatching (nothing against swatching, some of the very best art channels do it and are extremely useful, technical and informative, but this is not that type of channel)....like, i wanted to be proven wrong, but thus here we are.

Oh, and yes, i know what i'm talking about haha, for anyone who may get mad at my comment. Proffesional, college educated, life long dedicated artists and watercolor painter here.

These works have inspired me, I’m going to start trying to paint without an outline, it makes everything look so free and sort of abstract and so pretty, beautiful style

I love your paintings but most of all your journey of 2023. I’ve been battling depression due to very traumatic childhood experiences. I’m so thankful that I’ve found watercolor to help me on my healing journey. I will dabbling in acrylics this year thanks to a wonderful teacher. Much success in your new chapter of your journey.

Okay, third and final comment. There are a lot of people talking about watercolor painting on YouTube, all interesting in different ways, but Margo, you are different. Your imagination and sense of composition and whimsy and expressiveness are head and shoulders above. I can understand why it feels so vulnerable. This isn't just art for illustration, or something painted from a photo. Obviously you can do that. It's making sense of madness. It's communicating a river of universal human truth that we know is there but we can rarely see, and usually don't take the time to study, the grief for the loss of our past selves as we go through different phases of life. It is inspired and inspiring.

When you feel depression coming on take a few minutes to count your blessings. I lost my youngest son 5 years ago and there are many times I wish I could go back to those horrible, hectic days. My granddaughter was born 1 month after he died. She looks just like him 😊. I'm reliving those days, but now they're with her and I'm so much older and unable to keep up, but I force myself because she was a gift and I won't take her for granted.

It gets better, but two will always be harder than one unless you are fortunate enough that they begin playing together. Time will tell. Blessings to you and I hope to give you some strength to persevere through the rocky spots.

Your art is beautiful and there will come a time you will be free to work all day long without interruption. It will get here before you know it.

Your honesty touched my heart. Your paintings touched my soul. Thank you for putting all of that on the table. Very courageous for you to give those struggles a voice. Keep up the strong work. Know you are not alone Margo.❤

I have NO WORDS-this video is ABSOLUTELY everything I needed to see today. I’ll spare you the long story but in a nutshell, I’m illustrating my first pamphlet and its 8 illustrations, and it has thus far taken me two months (and I still have three remaining to complete!) so just… Thank you🙏🏻❤️

Wow you’re so talented. I think you’re one of the top most talented watercolor artists in you tube. I find your art so beautiful and colorful. I’ve been teaching myself watercolors for a little over a year and hope to one day soon paint as good as you. Can you pls do a tutorial on a painting like the one in 7:23?

I also wanted to say how inspiring you are. I’m so sorry about the depression that you’ve experienced recently. You continue to be so upbeat in your videos that I have not realized your struggle. I know how hard it is to admit to and applaud you for sharing with us. Hugs and love from one of your many fans.

What a challenging year for you! I’m loving the direction your art is going in and I love all of those verticals and the interesting blends and juxtapositions of colours. It’s interesting that, being a working mum with so much imposed order on your time and always having to meet the needs of others, whether it’s at work or at home, that your personal art has just exploded! In such an interesting and vibrant way too.

Having trained and worked as a designer and pattern maker for most of my career and now heading for retirement in the next few years, I’m well aware of that sense of always having to meet someone else’s brief. I’ve taken up water colour painting in the last two years and really just want to be left alone to play and experiment. Yet I’m constantly getting requests to paint this, that or the other for people. So my goal in 2024 is to learn to say NO. I really just want to continue to explore painting and to experiment with this beautiful medium of watercolour. And also to enjoy watching all of you very talented YouTubers. Blessings for the upcoming year 🙏

You did a beautiful job of expressing becoming a mom of 2 and postpartum depression . I also had 2 and felt the weight of the life change I as a woman went through. You expressing your feelings about your work was perfect, in your work I see you growing as a stronger mother and artist. The -picture of the dancer dancing as the galaxy burned down. As your past life burned away. Your work looks more mature and more beautiful than ever.
Much. Love,
Susan

My favourite is definitely the ultra-pastel ballerina that you (Margot) didn't like. I love the delicacy of it; the subtlety and grace appeal to my senses so strongly. Beautiful, beautiful - the entire video is filled with beauty and intriguing, inspiring energies of all kinds. All of them are very, very good.

The Flowers with the dark background and the Ballerina on stage by herself is my FAVORITE, that Vulnerability is so incredibly beautiful. As a fellow VIRGO I totally get you. Last year was about letting go for me, and learning new ways to grow.
2024 is about continuing to grow and develop in other areas creatively too, learning new ways and mediums to express ART. Thanks for sharing all your incredible art with us, you are always a joy to spend time with.🧡✨🧡

I absolutely love the piece at 39:56. I told you that right out loud while watching this video. 😍 What you said about the client not liking the colors and painting it over again resonated with me. I am very new to being a professional artist which has always been my dream. I currently have a commission painting that the client says she really likes my style and use of color and wants the picture to really pop and people to say WOW when they see it. She then keeps giving me such specific directions as to what she wants and doesn’t want that I see as watering down any kind of punch and WOW factor. I’m kind of frustrated and it is stifling my creativity all around. I’m using acrylic on canvas for that piece. I also paint in watercolor and a bit of mixed media sometimes. I used to paint in oil but stopped using that 30+ years ago when my kids were born. I also make art quilts with any kind of fabrics but especially silks. I really like your videos because you look so proper and yet are so goofy and entertaining. That’s the way I am.

yr ability to articulate outwardly so many internal conflicts & resolutions is as much a score w/multiple media's & substrates, voicing, conductor & ensemble including all of us as audience participants, as any full on Broadway production with marquis (sic) & champagne...yr challenge in retaining yr prima ballerina voice while adjusting to a stronger spread of players echoes so many of our own needs for tuning up the scale while managing sharp & flat relationships...despite the undertows, ty for navigating the shoals for those of us who don't/cannot express turmoil except thru those like you who can & do articulate the mundane while maintaining awareness of the ineffable...what ii remember most of yr shares here is joy, humor, color-filled dedication...& something only yr challenges could project: Grace under fire...ty.

Thank you so much for sharing your life and your struggles and keeping it real! The shiny social media and cameras often make us forget there are real people behind all the pinks and tutus and glitter, with real life chores like feeding kids and real life struggles like PPD. Thank you for being open about all the not so red lipstick glamour because it makes you and your art so much more amazing. Because let's be hones - not many people would even get the idea of using the couple spare kitchen counter minutes between snack and nap time to doodle, let alone develop concepts for future art pieces?... Speaking of art - your new bold, "let it go, let it out" style is absolutely AMAZING!!! Holy golden tutu do I LOVE all the bold, expressive pieces! They are just pure beauty and expression! 😍😍😍😍😍 Those pieces feel like they show the real you, if that makes sense. All your art is stunning but also seems very controlled and very commercial, which is very understandable considering the bills that must be paid. The new pieces are all that with your soul and heart and magic and pain and passion and sorrow and all the other emotions you must have felt while painting them. Absolutely stunning! 😍😍😍😍😍 I am really sorry for what you went through last year and I am really grateful that despite all your struggles you still were able to give us these amazing videos here. You are an inspiration to many, now probably more so than before sharing your struggles. You definitely are an inspiration to me. I started painting watercolor as form of therapy dealing with depression and C-PTSD and your channel has been a good companion on my learning and healing journey. Thank you for being here and I hope for more of your amazing art in coming years. ❤

You have such a delicate hand when you paint which is something I aspire to as well. You also have a great sense of humor that make your videos fun. Keep doing what you are doing!

Thank you so much for sharing your work and your year with us. All your work is beautiful, you know this, right? because it pays the bills 😉 but the work you’ve been doing for yourself is just something else. I love their colours and the vibrancy, the opulence & wildness. The courage of those little figures in all that grandeur. Thank you for sharing them and the processes behind them. ❤️
