You don't need a tow from the car ahead to hit 240km/h in the E220d, i have the 2022 E220d here in Germany and i hit 245km/h with it without any tow, there was no car ahead of me but it is locked at 245km/h, Mercedes doesn't allow the E220d to go beyond that but i think E220d is capable of doing 250+ if they didn't lock it which is crazy for a 2 litre diesel engine and the E class is also a heavy car, really impressive that it goes 245 quite easily
