Question: What if someone had $0 employment income and a 100, 000 gain. Would they still be in the 0% capital gains bracket or be in the 15%? I ask because the retiree had $0 in employment income but a 30, 000 gain. You had his annual income of still $0. Wouldn't it be 30, 000? Or does the calculator account for that? Is it automatically charged from American's brokerage trading account or American need to pay it during the tax declaration ?
