I found 3 videos how to do it on mobile phone and not even once on the desktop. I use desktop for my gmail 90% of the time

i used to just get the verification appear on my phone upon signing in and confirmed it was me, i just recently reset my password and now get a text everytime i sign in, is the other way no longer available or something?
