How To Add Custom Notification Sounds On Android

Let's add a custom notification sound on Android in this quick and easy guide.

Android allows you to add new custom notification sounds but you have to go through a quick workaround to do it. In this video, I walk you through the steps to access my files and add a folder where you can add songs or audio clips to use as a notification sound. The nice thing is you can use these different custom notification sounds depending on what type of notification you get. Anything from a call to a text to a new email you can have a separate sound. I use this for a message alert sound that is different from the rest. This works for any Android device from Samsung to Huawei in 2021.

I moved it into the notification folder but it didn't pop up on the notification sound list

Hey huge thanks but one tiny thing to add since I ran into a hiccup as the Notifications folder didn't show but already existed (not allowed me to create the folder). The workaround: Take the sound/sounds you want to move, and search for Notifications. It didn't display the folder but it did find it via search.

Just an FYI to others - your copied sound file may not show just the title, like for me I downloaded a rooster crowing but the file was a longer file name so just a heads up.

It doesnt show up in the list when i go back into notifications for text messages. Closed out and reopened a dozen times. Nothing.
