Alaska: the land of the missing people!

Alaska, known for its wild nature, harsh climate, and remote areas, has a history of mysterious disappearances in the town of Nome that extends from the early 20th century to the present day. Despite growing as a town with the gold rush, Nome is also recognized for its distant and challenging geography. It remains an important trade and transportation center due to having both a port and airports.

The disappearances in Nome are often examined through the lens of around 30 people who went missing outside the town between 1960 and 2004, with an average population of 2900 during that period. Although these disappearances are claimed to occur in a region referred to by town residents as the "Devil's Triangle," it's noted that the disappearances are not limited to this triangle but have occurred throughout the entire state.

Situated in the far west of Alaska, Nome, once a bustling town with the gold discovery in the early 20th century, witnessed a decline over time due to a decrease in population and investments. Nome carries a dark and mysterious atmosphere, especially solidified by the mysterious disappearances of nearly 30 individuals between 1960 and 2004, where they vanished without a trace.

The most famous disappearance in 2016 involved Joseph Balderas, a 36-year-old legal clerk. Joseph had informed his friends that he would go hunting, but he failed to show up for work later. Searches revealed Joseph's car on Nome Council Highway, yet he disappeared without leaving any trace. This incident, along with other mysterious disappearances in the town, remains unsolved, and the families of the missing individuals have criticized local police for not putting in enough effort.

The disappearance of Joseph Balderas and similar incidents can be attributed to the wild nature and challenging conditions of Alaska. Additionally, the poor state of roads leading to rural areas outside the town has elevated the significance of Nome's port and airports, contributing to the town's survival. However, even these factors do not fully explain the mysterious disappearances in the town.

The general causes of disappearances in Alaska are associated with factors such as the wild natural conditions, harsh climate, predatory animals, and transportation difficulties. Nevertheless, some events remain unexplained and shrouded in mystery. Major incidents like the 1950 disappearance of the Sky Master military transport plane, where no traces were found despite search efforts, are recorded as one of the largest American military personnel groups lost in Alaska.

While some disappearances in Alaska can be easily explained by natural factors and geographical challenges, others remain unsolved mysteries. When such events align with Alaska's wild and unexplored nature, they give rise to numerous speculations and questions.

I live in Alaska and this state is millions of acres, hundreds of miles of compete emptiness, wolves, bears, water ways ect and when you combine that with stupidity it's a very dangerous combination.

When you live in such a remote area you should also know the risks associated with it.
There's not a lot of law enforcement, and the ones that are there have to cover hundreds of miles.
Plus, being so isolated, it is a magnet for fugitives and criminals.
Add to it all the wildlife predators that call Alaska home.

The FBI suggesting that the missing men just stumbled off drunk and died is quite possibly the most pathetic reason Ive ever heard from a professional organization. Especially considering Nome is not surrounded by any forests or mountains, and the bodies have never been discovered. Absolutely lazy and ridiculous conclusion.

Guys I'm pretty sure an AI made this video. If you talk to Chat GPT about various topics it will make weird factual mistakes like the "39 mountains" thing. If you asked it to write a script for a video about disappearances in Alaska it would write something like the narration in this video.

My aunt and uncle used to live in Sitka and I visited them when I was only about 4 or 5 years old. Im 31 now and I still feel so lucky to have seen killer whales and to have hiked some too. Its a one of a kind area. Even though I was always around my family, I could tell it was very wild country and if someone was in trouble without help, things could get really dicey really quickly.

As an Alaskan that resides in interior Alaska, these disappearances are usually one of two things.
First, they have succumbed to predators.
Secondly, they don't want to be found.
Alaska is one place where those who don't want to be found are not found.

I believe the number that have gone missing in Alaska is 16, 000 NOT 61, 000. Just did research to make sure, yep just 16, 000.

I think you meant his girlfriend called his family to report he never made it, not he called his girlfriend's family to report he never made it

MY DAD AND I WERE TRAVELING TO FAIRBANKS WHEN A SMALL DINOSAUR TYPE CREATURE JUMPED ON OUR HOOD FROM THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY DAD SLAMED ON THE BREAKS AND IT EITHER FELL OFF OR JUMPED OFF ( happened so fast) AND RAN UP THE EMBANKMENT AND OUT OF SIGHT. ALL I SAW WERE SNAPPING TEETH THAT WOULD HAVE STRIPPED FLESH OF ANYONE OR ANYTHING. MY DAD NEVER. GOES HUNTING OR CAMPING ANYMORE AFTER THAT EXPERIENCE. HE TOLD ME HE HAD HEARD WHISPERS FROM OTHERS WHO SWORE THEY HAD SEEN A DINOSAUR LIZARD LIKE CREATURE CROSS THE HIGHWAYS BUT NEVER REALLY BELIEVED THE STORIES. LOL. I TEASE HIM NOW BECAUSE I LIVE IN SAN DIEGO CA. AFTER GRADUATING COLLEGE.

Nome is less than 600 miles from Fairbanks so it isn’t thousands of kilometers from anywhere. Once this was said I can pretty much see where the rest of this is going. Also these people that do these videos always show coastal mountains along the Gulf of Alaska, not Nome.

Strange video. AI voice over that just makes it sound even worse. As for Bear attacks, they hibernate for months so not much chance of them attacking during the winter. The guy who worked in the court house. Seems strange that a co-worker went straight to the police when he did not turn up for work? loads of people don't turn up for work and most co-workers would phone around or just leave it be and check the next day.

The Michael brothers sounds like foul play.
NOBODY jumps of a snowmobile in the middle of nowhere without a reason.
No bear tracks and no body found..
Serial killer comes to mind to smart to catch, the perfect crime .
