The staff at Beachy Cove Elementary wanted to spread some Christmas cheer so they made a very festive (and silly) video. We hope you enjoy it!

"'Twas the week before Christmas..."
Traditional poem adapted by Becky McDonald

'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the school,
not a student was listening, or following the rules!
The teachers were tired and worse for the wear,
in hopes that their vacation soon would be there.

The days crept on slowly, but soon it was near
and finally, yes, December 22nd was here!
The teachers and students cheered and they clapped,
and settled their brains for a long winter's nap.

As the Grade 6 teachers went to make their way home,
They began to feel very sad and alone.
They soon realized why they felt so grey,
What would they do without math everyday?

As the clock struck three the Grade 5 teachers left,
They thought to themselves they deserved a good rest.
When suddenly a bad thought crossed their minds,
Did that final lesson really have enough “D.I.”?

There was nothing to fear down in good old Grade 4,
They hooted and they hollered as they closed their class door.
They celebrated too early they soon came to realize,
Their car keys were locked in their desks – how unwise!

The Grade 3’s teachers began gathering their things,
And thinking what joy the holidays bring!
And as they began to walk out the door,
They all slipped and fell in a pile on the floor!

When the Grade 2 teachers decided it was the time to leave,
They did not know the bad news they’d receive.
Their planning for January was not good anymore
A new curriculum was announced for math, language, and more!

Grade 1 teachers thought they were in for a treat
And Christmas Vacation would be very neat.
That was until they tried to stand up and walk
And realized they were much more tired than they thought!

If you think the Grade 1’s were tired, I have news for you
The kindergarten teachers were starting to snooze.
They curled up together, snuggled under the tree
And thought to themselves “is this job really for me?”

Down the hallway the teachers of music and phys-ed
All felt that they had lost their minds and their heads.
They were so exhausted and loopy they decided to stay,
And figured it would be better to drive home the next day.

The IRT teachers and the guidance department,
Were focused on opening a tiny compartment.
They thought there were presents locked deep inside,
And spent the whole night trying to open it up wide!

The student assistants deserved a good treat,
And took a short break to have something to eat.
With their bellies full that they laid down their heads,
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads!

The secretaries were just about to walk out the door,
When the phones starting ringing like never before!
So they slumped back into their comfy black chairs,
And got ready to have a busy night for their ears!

The custodians were just about ready to hit the road,
When they came across a slimey green toad!
They thought this might be a plan Santa had hatched,
And spent their night looking for a red one to match!

As the lovely Ms. Godden was tidying up books,
One caught her eye, so she took a quick look.
She said to herself “I’ll just read one page more!”
Until she fell asleep with her book on the floor!

And down in the office there arose such a clatter,
Mrs. Penney and Mr. Dawe couldn’t stop their chatter.
They talked and they gabbed until way past bedtime,
They didn’t even notice the midnight bell chime!

When the sun came up the very next day,
The staff were there, though they hadn’t meant to stay!
So they celebrated together in the cozy staff room,
And finally decided it was past time to zoom.

They sprang to his cars, to their friends gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
They shouted together as they drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

I went to Beachy Cove from 1999-2006. I absoutely adored this school, it makes me teary-eyed to see the library, music room, the hallways, etc. It looks almost the same as I remember it. 💖 What I wouldn’t give to go back just to be able to look around and reminisce on my BCE days. 💖

Grade 2: Mrs. Gail Hatcher (my fave 💖)
Grade 3: Mr. James March (RIP ☹️)
Grade 4: Mrs. Gloria Stone
Grade 5: Mrs. Gail Hatcher (omg I was so excited to have her twice lol)
Grade 6: Mrs. Carla Porter
Gym: Mrs. Tapper
Music: Mrs. Cantwell
Principal: Mrs. Manuel. Then she retired and Mr. Dawe took her place.
Librarian: Mrs. Godden
Special Ed: Mrs. Hodder

You were all amazing, Thankyou for 7 beautiful years 💖😘

There is some performing arts talent here. What a nice keepsake for the staff members. What will be the visual arts project for next year?
