For those who have not the Apple Mobile Device Service:
I successfully managed to import pictures and videos by going to "this PC" in the explorer > making a right click into "Apple Iphone" (section devices and drives) > import pictures and videos. I'm on win 10. Hope it'll be the solution for you too.

Nothing I have tried has worked. Has anyone found a solution? My computer does not have Apple Mobile Device Services. I have tried downloading a few at a time and I still keep getting “something went wrong”

Before the issue I was able to import about half of the photos and then the error message. Attempted your recommendation but still no luck.

Is there a chance that not using original Apple lightning cable can cause this ? I am able to port 200/4000 photos every time

Is it possible that because I have a 'work phone' I am not able to transfer my photos? I've done all of the steps (even had to download itunes, etc..) and I get: "This Iphone is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer". Is there still a way that I can get my photos from this phone? I did once and for the life of me, I cannot remember how. So frustrating.

I have found the problem, when you edit a video on iPhone, an editable or modification is created, for example, rotate the frame, that editable makes it appear that it modifies a new video (I have not tried it on edited images) but only a 100kb file is created and in Photo app it puts a capture of the real video and the edited file of that video, when you pass the photo and video to the PC is when photo app does something strange and decides not to export, MY SOLUTION, by allowing the iphone to give access to the PC wait about 2 minutes until it appears (I don't know why it takes to recognize) in Windows explorer and go through the photos folder, copy paste and so it will not give you any errors, that's how it worked for me, regards.

This didn't help, do you know what else I can try? I've restarted both devices. reset everything I can reset without deleting everything off the phone because that defeats the point of trying to save the images from the phone, bought a brand new cable, changed USB ports, phone completely up to date, EVERYTHING.
It's the absolute bane of my life and I fully believe this is intentional on Apple's part so I have to buy a new phone but this phone is only 2 years old! Criminal.

Nothing works to resolve this issue its a purposeful bug from apple? microsoft? This was not an issue back when? 2019? I think the issue is with apples video compression codec used and the live photos. Google photos app on iphone imports video & live photos fine.
