This is the problem with the Internet. It allows virtually anybody to have a voice, even if they don’t know what they’re talking about. Larry, I agree with your comments completely. The person who created that list has no idea of the history of the Beatles and for the most part, no idea what they’re talking about.

I never have understood why some people hate "Ob-la-di Ob-la -da" and "The Long and Winding Road". I love both of those songs.

This person is obviously a troll. Although he did throw in some unpopular Beatles songs, Lucy? I need you? Taxman? Come on. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Especially when they are trying to get clicks!

"I Need You" is one of my favourites from Help

Geoff Emerick writes about the "White Album" sessions in his book. He did NOT quit his job, which was being an engineer at EMI, but stopped engineering for the Beatles sessions, because he couldn't stand their bitter arguments. I always liked most of these songs, especially Taxman, Hey Jude and Sun King. Paul was furious when he heard Phil Spector's overdubs for "The Long and Winding Road." As you mentioned, the guy who did that list probably didn't know much about the stories behind the songs, like "Lucy."

I'm all for a list of worst Beatles songs, but it would be nice if there was valid and thoughtful criticism instead of snarky bullshit. That article sounds like it was written by a 10 year old who just wants to complain. I feel your frustration, Larry.

A good example would be this:
"Revolution #9 - This isn't really a song, but more of a sound collage. While I give it props for being creative, especially in 1968, it unfortunately takes up a large chunk of time that isn't as engaging as the rest of the great songs on the album. Also, because it appears so close to the end of the album, it damages the feeling you have about the album as it is one of the last things you have heard, and is therefore one of the most memorable at that point in time. Perhaps if it was more in the middle of the album, it wouldn't be so bad."

I will comment on 10 of the songs listed:

"I Need You" - This is one of the few instances where I agree. The volume-tone pedal on the guitar is quite sloppy and could have used another take or two. I still don't think I'd put it in my bottom 20, though, as it's a rather pleasant song.

"Run For Your Life" - And, of course, the obligatory inclusion of this song and inevitable lack of any argument that addresses whether or not it's any good. Yes, of course, violence towards women is very bad. I wholeheartedly agree. You know what else is bad? Being a cannabilistic serial killer. And yet, Anthony Hopkins is still justifiably praised for his portrayal of one in "The Silence of the Lambs."

"Taxman" - None of the Beatles were that wealthy in 1966, especially George and Ringo, so this is another case of ignoring the quality of the song in order to complain about something else.

"Yellow Submarine" - Why do we keep hearing this song all the time? Well, if we know enough about the Beatles to actually make a list like this, then it's probably because we keep playing it.

"Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" - No, it's not "LSD for short." That rumor was debunked almost 60 years ago. However, I'm hard-pressed to think that LSD had nothing to do with the results, but again, that has nothing to do with whether or not the song is any good.

"Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!" - I can remember when the fear of clowns was just as rare as most other phobias. Then, around the 90s or so, it became trendy to talk about how creepy they were. I've never felt that way particularly myself, but now we're supposed to lump circus music in with that. Okay, well, if you don't like it, you don't like it, but I think it's brillliant.

"Hey Jude" - I guess the first half of the song is irrelevant to anybody with that short of an attention span.

"Mr. Moonlight" - Lennon doesn't croon on this song. If anything, he does the exact opposite.

"Why Don't We Do It In The Road?" - No good story can start this way? Well, it's quite literally not a story, so what is the actual complaint here?

"Only A Northern Song" - Northern Songs was not George's "editor."

7:42, to think John Lennon stopped trying in 1967. Just think of what he could have done if he did try after 1967. Imagine what the results of him trying would be?

While I could also do without ever hearing many of those again, I would rescue a few from the recycle bin. I would rescue Lucy, Mister Kite, Jude, the number 9, and that long yet winding boulevard. Mister Kite and Number 9 most importantly, musically. Lucy and Jude are two favorite chums. Rev. 9 still has some frontier to explore. I know the others well enough to play on my mind's jukebox.

A troll to get a reaction out of Beatles fans. I wouldn't give this guy any attention.

The Beatles are the only band whose career is perfect. Unforgettable songs, outstanding albums, the end of activity at the perfect time, a brilliant producer. The Beatles would never knowingly publish a weak song. They had a great sense of humour, life experience and understood that you can't play one way forever. The catalogue of their works is a treasure.

I'm sorry, but "Yellow Submarine" is one of my absolute favorite Beatles tunes.

Hi Larry I have noticed a trend to get subscribers by picking a quality band or artist and saying They are awful worst band/songs ever!! As you said Larry on closer inspection no real argument! I unsubscribed from another site as a fake squabble was going on simply to get subscribers!

This list is insane! The guy has no clue. I admit I’m not into Revolution #9 and Wild Honey Pie but I honestly love all the other songs listed. Absolutely crazy rating by this jerk.

This guy really does not like George Harrison at all. I have to disagree with all of his choices. For a start two of them are cover versions, maybe not the best, but this was in the early stage of their recording career, of some of the others, he seems to lose the context of when these songs were written as well as recorded. Revolution No 9 is not a song as such but a sound collage. Why don't we do it in the road and wild honey pie are little experimental snippets, something of a similar but shorter nature would surface once more on Paul's McCartney album in 1970. Then he takes a swipe at songs that again are experimental in nature but regarded as classics. What he forgets is that in four years this band went from Love Me Do to Tomorrow Never Knows, that kind of musical evolution is astounding, and I'm at a loss to name another band who evolved musically in a similar space of time. I have every respect for him to like or not like Beatles songs, but I disagree on his comments on all of them.
