Hello friends, today's video is about one of the historic structures of Istanbul, the Basilica Cistern, or as it's commonly known, the "Sunken Palace". This underground water reservoir is located in the historic peninsula of Istanbul.

Although the exact construction date of the cistern is unknown, it's believed to have been built in the 6th century by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. The Basilica Cistern has 336 columns and is a 12-meter-high structure built to hold water.

One of the most interesting features of the cistern is the Medusa heads on top of the columns. These heads have a mythological story and are a popular spot for tourists to take photos.

Today, the cistern is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Istanbul. Visitors can walk along the pathway below the water level and enjoy the historic atmosphere of the cistern. It also hosts many art exhibitions.

If you're visiting Istanbul, I highly recommend that you visit the Basilica Cistern. I hope you enjoy watching this video. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to our channel if you enjoyed it. Thanks!
