Why use salt to paint the Moon? Classroom Art hack
This art lesson tutorial uses a technique called Raised Salt Art.
This art activity uses salt, glue and paint to create a realistic, textured painting of the moon. It's great to watch the paint spread across the textured salt surface, blending and creating interesting patterns and tones.
This is great to use with students to teach different art techniques with consistent, exciting results, especially if you are learning/teaching about Space or the Solar System. You can use this to produce other planets by changing the colours of the paint.

You can use any kind of water based paint, as long as it can be watered down, including Watercolour paint, Gouache paint, poster paint and acrylic paint.

Any brush will work, as you only need to lightly dab the salt, before it sucks up the paint.

And it's a great way to use art in a science lesson or as an activity at home. Perfect for teachers or parents to demonstrate and teach.
