Why is this JavaScript code running faster on the MacBook Pro with the Intel Core i9 chip instead of on the new MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip?

you are doing a great job for especially from a developer perspective to testing this machine

Thanks a lot. I wonder if the Intel CPU throttled during the test (and slowed down) due to the excessive heat?

I remember a compiler that was smart enough to realize you didn't do anything with the Primes, so it threw the entire loop out. :-)

That was not a old reference! Why do you make me feel old!?

Javascript? Is this something new?

Boy, I can't keep up with this stuff.

You're my favorite UTube programmer.

That's an Austin Powers Dr Evil reference.

Yes: the fact that the Intel machine's fan did not start up in the first tests tells you that it's running at the CPU boost frequency, which is faster than the maximum clock rate of the Apple chips. So, of course an empty loop will scream. Heat up the Intel chip, she it will throttle the clock, and it will slow down.

This is a great video! Just curious, why the windows server on Apple silicon get higher CPU than Intel? Have you tried without running windows server on both Intel and Apple silicon MacbookPro? Thanks!

Love this! Thank you! And you did convince me to get a Macbook pro, finally. Just a month to wait, now. 🤣🤣

Please if you're able, compare intel i7 or i9 11gen vs m1 in dev tasks I'm especially interested in java, ide (inellij) performance working with a big project such as dependency resolving and so on, compiling, startup timing etc. There are no comparisons of such a kind out there. Also could check docker build time, kubernetes deployment smth like that, I would be enormously thankful!

Not seeing an affiliate link in the description for the temp and fan monitoring tool.

Man I'm a huge fan of your content 🖤,
Can I take your advice.
I can't really afford a macbook air right now. According to my budget i got to choose between the microsoft surface laptop go (12.4inch core i5 1035G1) and the dell xps 13 9350 (2016 model with core i5 6300u) ? Both with 8gb ram.
My main usage is android studio as I am learning flutter and this will be my secondary device because I got a kindda powerfull pc
Just to be in mind if I got the dell one i'll set ut ubuntu but if I got surface fo one I'll be stuck with windows
Sorry for being to long 😂

Thank you for your performance comparison videos in software development. It would be nice you can evaluate the performance comparison dotnet6 project build times on m1 max and linux/windows on pc. Since i tried it for my project and m1 max took 48 seconds and in 5950x desktop linux : 33 seconds windows : 39 seconds. where as for react nodejs project apple m1 computers took 66 seconds and 5950x linux : 78 seconds. windows : 120 seconds. it seems to be that dotnet6 build is slow m1 max. Node js build is very fast in m1 macs compared to linux and windows. Can you please evaluate the dotnet6 build time in m1 max if you find this interesting. thanks

A good compiler should optimize that to nothing. In fact GCC at level 3 optimization does that.
