Ok, in terms of features, the best balance is ASUS ZenBook 14 OLED, for a 2-in-1 touchscreen with a pen it's Lenovo Yoga 7, and for the highest performance, it's Lenovo Legion 5 (RTX 4060).

Bruh people in the comments saying to buy a gaming laptop are straight up not the target audience for MacBooks. For one, this is for those who don’t want a bulky, overheating, loud laptop that runs out of battery in 3 hours.

I’ve got a $700 M1 MacBook Air for all my productive tasks and $350 Xbox series X for gaming. Pretty much best of both worlds for the same price as a good gaming laptop without the compromises.

Realistically you will want the 512gb (which also gives you 2 extra gpu cores) at $1200 but hey at least you don’t have to upgrade the RAM now

None of the essential software that I use as an engineer work to full capacity or are available on MacBooks.

It might be the best now. But it used to be so bad that developers gave up on it back then.

i have a macbook air my parents bought in 2015-2016 as the family computer. sheri (the name i gave to the macbook) is still holding up after ten years: she does everything at an incredible speed and works perfectly. the only downsides she has are the update (the last time i updated her was in 2023, i believe? it was her last update) and the battery (after two hours, she is DEAD, but, as long as she is attacked to the charger, she does her job). my parents have offered to change her for a newer one, but, honestly?, i will keep sheri till the end of her days.

I have the M1 Air and it’s easily the best laptop I’ve used. Even 8GB of RAM somehow isn’t an issue.
As much as I hate Walmart, they have it for $650 and I highly recommend it for a cheap laptop.
