Every year in Hawaii, thousands of people take to the streets to celebrate an unlikely hero – SPAM. In Hawaii, SPAM isn’t just a canned meat, it’s a big part of history and played a role in the island’s economy as an inexpensive source of protein. But times have changed since SPAM was introduced by Hormel Foods in 1937. Changing consumer tastes and competition from new brands
has made packaged food products a competitive market. Watch this video to find out why SPAM is still popular today.

My mom bought the millionth can of Spam and won a trip to Europe! It gave my mom and dad an opportunity to travel they would never have again in their lifetime in 1960. We ate a lot of Spam growing up.

As long as Filipinos exist, the Spam industry isn’t gonna die out any time soon.

The first batch of spam was made back in 1937. Hormel recently announced due to recent popular demand they are planning on starting a second batch in the next few months.

"Consumers are willing to pay for the brand recognition associated with Spam."
Yeah, you know life's rough when you catch yourself buying off-brand Spam.

As fas as I know, SPAM is sitting comfortably in the cupboard along with his friends, Corned Beef and Canned Tuna.

Just recently I tried Spam (less sodium) for the first time. The stuff looks like cat food, but was surprisingly tasty. Cooked in a pan, it tasted like turkey sausage with a bit of pork. After a while, I didn't just like it... I needed it. The sort of processed food that hits the right receptors. Careful with Spam... it's addictive.
