Oh I love her closing statement. The dynamics between brothers and sisters can be so complicated and hard to go through, I hope to see a world like that too!

Oh dear the stuff about post-partum depression really got me, my best friend went through it pretty badly and it's actually so common but no one really talks about it so the feelings of shame on top of the depression is just such a tough time

Shereen this was such an excellent, inspiring, and on point TEDx talk. I have thought the very same thing about women-we are the life givers, without us there is no life, yet we live in a society, a world that oppresses women. This makes no sense. It's time for a change. If men and women acted as true collaborators and team players worldwide what a different world this would be.

I like that she spoke about this with balance in mind, yes it's about empowering women but it's also about recognizing what happens to men when women aren't seen to be of the value they should be

I was so psyched for her when she said she took off those toxic societal lenses! All the points she makes are so spot on and it's wild that women have to go through such lows to question how things are and give themselves permission to combat it all

This is an excellent talk. I also think that empowering women will in turn create a future that has more balance to it, where the qualities and habits that women embody are valued and practiced a lot more. I think that would bring so much healing to the world.

I appreciate having found this talk, lots of perspectives that we don't consider as men because our experiences are so different

Okay wow obviously I knew about post partum depression but I've never connected the dots that it's not just a modern issue and probably happened to a lot of women all throughout the ages. Definitely agree, it's not the same as all the pretty pictures

The point she makes about being judged on how much money/how productive women are was interesting and something I don't think is limited to just them. I felt it a lot during the pandemic, I lost my job and wasn't doing much of anything and very quickly felt like I was worthless

I get where she's coming from but I hope that we can move towards a future that empowers everyone to be more human

It's interesting because we're taught that ancient cultures weren't as "civilized" as how our society is now but when you look at how they treated one another, compared to how we do, well... it makes me wonder

Yeah I wish I had of known about cortisol and its effects like 10 years ago before I started taking meds to manage my thyroid. I _never_ had a belly even when I was gaining weight like crazy but as soon as you mess with your hormones and stress levels that's where it all goes.

I have a lot of sisters and female cousins, it makes me sad to think they don't already feel empowered

What she said about how we're all born from women yet the society we live in oppresses the women who give life is really sad to think about. How did we even get to this point? I know there's all the euro-centric influences on how society had formed and that they often considered women to be property but we've come so far from those times in every other way why are we stuck on this?

It's really sad to think she couldn't ask for support without the diagnosis.... so crazy that we're conditioned in that way

LOL at her story about losing the baby weight, definitely paints of picture of what kind of person she is

I think in order to do that we need to create a whole new kind of society. It's just not positively geared towards women at all.

Maybe women aren't edified for the incredible service they do to forward the human race because we don't value human life the way we should. Call me cynical but just take a look at the world, how we treat it and each other...
