The sad thing is that it feels like it'd be almost a dream just to be able to get a dumb job like this, and it's so hard just to get noticed. Now you have to have a college degree that's apparently hardly worth anything, 5+ years of experience in multiple fields, a resume with enough words matching the job description (so the AI bot will notice it), a cover letter with enough words matching the job description (so the AI bot will notice it), an application form containing a lot of the same information you put in your resume and cover letter, work samples, certifications, references, a link to a detailed and regularly maintained LinkedIn, a link to your portfolio, a video resume, an online exam, at least two different interviews, at least one follow-up contact, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Then they'll likely just take a brief look at what you submitted and throw it in the trash with the 999 other people desperate for work.

You hardly even have the luxury of "selling out" anymore, even if you want to.

David Herman, who played Michael Bolton in the movie, was born in 1967, while the actual Michael Bolton was born in 1953. Both their birthdays are in February and six days apart from each other. This movie came out just one day before Herman’s 32nd birthday, and one week before Bolton’s 46th. In 2020, Herman, who again was born in ‘67, turned 53 that year, while Bolton, who again was born in ‘53, turned 67 that year.
