Make Simple Strong Shelves for French Cleat Garage Storage (New Garage Workshop Part 2)

Here's a surprisingly strong shelf that i made pretty simply. Will it support my weight plus all the junk on it, or will it collapse leaving me on the floor in a puddle of my own failure to build a simple shelf? Watch and find out. It hold up, though, so if that was really the cliffhanger to keep you watching, well, too bad. i spoiled it. Darth Vader is Luke's father by the way and Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time.

I’m probably preaching to the choir but having all your stuff organized with easy access makes working on projects much more enjoyable and faster. I just finished cleaning up my garage workshop, not at the level your doing, and I never want to go back to the over stuffed, everything everywhere, no space to work properly setup ever again.

A bit late watching this one. I've started putting up French cleats in my garage shop. A really good system. Like you, I'm in the process of hanging all my hammers on them. Good to be getting them off the floor and out of drawers. I've been doing a lot of rearranging and organizing the last couple of years and boy does it help.

Finally! Someone who builds a large shelf out of French Cleats. An awesome video! I'm going to make a 2ft deep by 4ft wide Desk like this.

Seeing corded drills is like seeing a classic car on the road. Such an odd thing to see.

why hasn't anybody thought about this before? so simple and inexpensive and quick to make. Everybody needs shelves! the net should be full of videos with this idea, yet there is nothing.

I feel your pain, 65% of our stuff is in boxes still... can't find anything when time is critical.
Great looking shelves

The saw only goes up to 50 Degrees because to cut at 60, you set it a 30 and then flip the work piece, assuming it has parallel sides to maintain the angle.
Not ideal, but a design the manufacturers often use to keep costs down and reflects the existing ingenuity of the trade as guys have been using then that way for decades as a saw with a 60+ degree range hasn't been affordable for most craftsmen for the last 100 years.

I, too, am surprised you didn't drill into your hand.

100% agree on peg board. I moved into this house 18 years ago and did french cleats. Have yet to move anything on them. Next time I'm gonna just cover the wall with 1/2" ply

Yes. Organizing is just making room for more junk.😉

My friends 'discovered' boxes in the attic that hadn't been opened since they moved, 20 years ago. I recently found stuff dated July '95 that I had no memory of. Almost three decades. Boxes are the worst !

4:15 look where your finger is, did you wanna cut it of? Be careful bro, awesome job for the rest.

Be careful with your finger, at minute 4:12 it is very exposed to the saw blade.

Many greetings

This whole video was just a ruse to show off that you can do a pull-up. Rub it in...

Nice video! Did you see the video from Zack Freedman about his gridfinity storage boxes? Might be useful for the little stuff if you are still on an organization kick!

These look over-engineered but I'm not mad about it 😂

HOW did you not drill into your hand?!

Stupid human point. If you cut a straight board at 30 degrees the other board will have a 60 degree cut on its end.
