Very rarely say this but this actor is awesome. Have seen him in several stage productions in London and on television and he simply morphs into the characters. He's amazing to watch and his performance in Matilda will go down in theatre history as one of the greats.

I love his performance as Miss Trunchbull the most because he played her with femininity, not just as a hulking, manly beast with breasts.

There are VERY few actors who have the range, talent, imagination, and skill of Bertie Carvel! 👏👏👏
Also, if he had chosen to be the lead singer of a band instead of an actor, I have no doubt he would have been among the greatest frontmen of all time.

Just finished binge watching, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, which he was great in. So I looked up what other things he'd done....He must be one of those great actors who disappear into their roles. I was surprised to find he'd played the old school mate, turned banker in an ep. of Sherlock. Now I see this...this guy's good!
