This is what I call the best review ever! You have really made it amazing, especially when you connected the line-out with your camera. Splendid! Thanks a lot.

Hey Gary. After doing a lot of research on the best entry level mic I decided on Rode and I just got mine delivered. I was lucky enough to grab it as a boxing day special for only $120 so I'm well pleased. I'm impressed with the quality & overall packaging etc too. I wanted to make sure I was doing the right things with it so I popped online to see if anyone explained how to set it up to record on a laptop and found you after watching a couple of others that weren't explaining much beyond the obvious. Your video was terrific and covered everything I needed to know. Originally I only wanted to know about connecting to the computer and recording and thought I knew how to set it up physically but you gave me some useful pointers I was unaware of. Thank you so much! I'm heading off now to do a test run :D PS the tip about moisture was VERY important as I live in Tasmania and have a massive condensation issue in my home. I had no idea the crystal packet was for the mic pouch! I would have just left it in the box. Crucial info for me also so I know not to leave the mic/set up the studio in either of the two worst damp effected rooms.

Using this for couple of months and like it a lot. This video was a big help in making the decision to get the NT-USB.

Thanks for this video. It really helps the rank newbie like me to get basic setup done right. Too many of this type of tutorial videos out there assume a basic knowledge of how to set up audio equipment, leaving those just entering this exciting world discouraged and doing things wrong from the get-go. Thanks, Gary, these Rode UT-NSB vids and keep them coming -- especially with a focus on the newbies out here!

Hello kind sir, I bought the microphone just a few days ago and I started recording the same day. The microphone does pick noise when I am typing on keyboard or when my mom calls me from two rooms away. Microphone is very sensitive and is there any way I can decrease that sensitivity? Thanks in advance!

Dude! Thank you so much! I didn't realise the gold dot indicated the front of the mix- the audio had become terrible quality and I thought I had damaged it- I would've never known!

A refreshing no-nonsense review, simple, easy and clever - I liked the idea channeling the mic output through the camera to the monitoring headphones.

Lol. This was actually really helpful. I had no idea what the knobs on the side did. Thanks!

Very helpful, thanks. I just received the Rode NT today from Amazon, and I was struggling. This explanation makes everything much easier.

Hi Gary, I've just gotten a Rode NT-USB+ and I tried recording myself singing. I plugged it into my iPhone, and my headphones into the laptop that's just beside for the backing track. I then recorded myself singing using my phone's camera. However, when I played back, I'm not entirely sure if the audio I hear is actually from the mic, or my phone? I'm quite confused actually as to how mics work. I want to record a clean audio that I can manually add on to the backing tracks because I normally record a few takes, and so having a clean direct audio track will help when I piece together parts from different recordings. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but it does in my head. 😂

I get quite frustrated when I don't know what's going on, and I wonder if I set it up wrongly or so. But according to this video, I believe I set it up the correct way as well. But something just feels wrong, but I can't tell what and where I went wrong. 🥲

I was about to give up on this mic and send it back as it sounded awful and noisy, glad I saw your video sounds so much better now!

Thank you so much for that! I was scared of latency problems but seems there is no such issue or it’s not a big problem
